VIN - Bequia Basketball Elects Executive Committee for 2017-2019 period

 

The Membership of the Bequia Basketball Association elected a new Executive Committee to serve for two years from 2017 to 2019 on June 19th at the Bequia District Council. Sabrina Mitchell was re-elected uncontested as President, to lead the organization for another term. The annual tournament, going into its 19th consecutive season begins soon, opening on July 15th and running until August 27th.

In the efforts to discover new talent for the national teams and reinforce and provide education to existing coaches, the Federation Haitienne de Basketball (FHB) with support from the NBA Development League, Rio Grande Valley Vipers coaching staff will hold its 2nd Annual U19 ID Camp and 2nd Annual Coaching Clinic in Port-au-Prince from June 12 – 18.

3x3 basketball added to Olympic Program
 
The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Executive Board on Friday announced its decision to include 64 athletes (32 men and 32 women) for 3x3 as part of the Olympic Basketball program starting with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Adding a new urban basketball discipline to the Olympic program marks a quantum leap for the development of the game and presents an array of opportunities for new countries and players alike.
