3x3 basketball added to Olympic Program
 
The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Executive Board on Friday announced its decision to include 64 athletes (32 men and 32 women) for 3x3 as part of the Olympic Basketball program starting with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Adding a new urban basketball discipline to the Olympic program marks a quantum leap for the development of the game and presents an array of opportunities for new countries and players alike.

FIBA Americas Executive Director Alberto Garcia retiring after 19 years of service for FIBA
 
Alberto Garcia, FIBA Americas Executive Director, has announced his retirement after 19 years of service to world basketball's governing body. Garcia's career in basketball began in 1962 when he became a referee in his hometown of Mendoza, Argentina. By 1970 he had ascended to the status of a national referee and in 1982 he made his debut on the international scene during the South American Championship in Lima, Peru.

Draw results in for Centrobasket U17 Women’s Championship 2017

 

The draw for the Centrobasket U17 Women’s Championship took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Tuesday. The Centrobasket U17 Women’s Championship will be played August 15-19 and will feature the participation of the National Teams from the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Surinam.
